A research associate is sought to contribute to the University of Cambridge's Transkills project. Working independently and with members of the Transkills team, you will use participatory research methods to identify effective modes of engaging academic staff teaching first-year undergraduates in professional development interventions appropriate to Cambridge's academic cultures. The Transkills project is funded by the Teaching Quality Enhancement Fund, an initiative of HEFCE, which will continue until the end of December 2010. The post is available immediately.
You will hold a PhD or have an equivalent level of research experience. Demonstrably capable of swiftly understanding the cultures and values of a research-intensive environment, you may also have experience of teaching, running seminars and workshops and developing instructional materials.
The Transkills team is based in CARET (the Centre for Applied Research in Educational Technologies), and is led by Dr Keith Johnstone. Seconded to CARET, the Research Associate will report to Staff Development's Academic Practice Consultant, Dr Meg Tait.
