[absolutely amazing ottawa b&b]

I meant to blog about this earlier but...

While we were travelling around Ontario earlier this month we serendipitously happened upon the fabulous Home Sweetland Home b&b. So named for its location on Sweetland Ave. It's in the beautifully leafy area of Sandyhill; a short walk to the city centre, rivers, restaurants and parks.

Brian, one of the proprietors acted more like a family friend, welcoming us into his home. He gave us a tour of the beautiful historic (1895) home (which is one of the cleanest places I have ever been!). In the morning we were treated to healthy grilled veg. omlettes, multigrain toast and a platter overflowing with sweet, juicy and ripe watermellon and strawberries. The fruit was so wonderful we think it was a highlight of our trip!

I mentioned to Brian that I'd blog about his b&b. I don't often blog about commercial enterprises but Home Sweetland Home was really more about a comfortable stay in a gorgeous environment with a very friendly host.

re: anon - ha ha! Ottawa does get quite warm actually! It was around 30 degrees C when we were there...in JUNE!

Our busy season has taken off here, we are almost at a 80% for July already.

currently I'm...

still thinking about online narratives. Well, I've spent the past few years thinking about it but now I'm going in a slightly different direction. I'm thinking about wiki fictions, blog stories, youtube stories and facebook storytelling. I guess it's narratives 2.0? But I'm also researching transdisciplinarity in an academic context and editing two issues of the IOCT journal before steering the emergence of a fully-peer-reviewed journal (tentatively) titled: Transdisciplinary Studies in Creative Technologies. I'm running the Digital Cultures module for the IOCT Master's, giving guest lectures for the Creative Writing and New Media Master's as well as part-time lecturing on new media and digital lit. I'm involved with the Narrative Laboratory project and this year's focus in on mapping social networking. I also contribute as an author to Transliteracy.com, a collaboratively written blog. I'm very interested in how the online environment and its particular affordances are affecting education. To that end I'm involved in a project linking the Inanimate Alice stories to digital literacy. Want to be involved? Check this out.
