Interesting but not sure if the stats add up, especially given this recent article suggesting Japan as leading blog readers...

No bloggers in Australia, South Africa or South America. Australia is a surprise, I must say. Almost seems like the swath of writers is in the northern hemisphere - it's cold, so people write?
Probably has something to do with the access that people have to the internet. Asia has 409 million users, North America has 231 million users while Austrialis/Oceania only have 19 million! Take a look here: http://www.internetworldstats.com/stats.htm
Thanks for the weblink. The percentage of users casts another light onto the data. Then one can see that Australia is a high user - which is in keeping with their early awareness of the power of the media.
